Why is Showbiz giving me a "device is in use by another software" error?
Last Updated 7 years ago

This behavior is typically seen when either the EZgrabber, or some other application, is using the VC500 hardware.

If you have no other applications open that can capture data from an external source, then the Showbiz application may be conflicting with itself. To solve this issue:

Access the folder in this location:

c:/users/[user_name]/appdata/roaming/arcsoft/captureDll/2.2.1/Capture.ini

These Files can be accessed by
  1. From the desktop screen, click File Explorer icon imagefrom the taskbar.
  2. Click on the "This PC" or "computer" option on the left.
  3. There will be an a hard disk Drive labeled as "(C:/)"
  4. Double click on that, follow the path listed above.

These folders are hidden, so please see this page on how to show hidden files and folders:

Windows 7
Windows 8

Once the file listed above is located and opened, you can copy this data into the file so it reads correctly.

The save path will be specific to your system, but the TV setting data should match this:

[TV Setting]
AudioSourcePin=1
VideoInputIndex=0
VideoStandard=1
[Latest Use Device]
Display   Name=@device:pnp:\\?\usb#vid_1f4d&pid_0102&mi_01#7&31956d8d&0&0001#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\{9b365890-165f-11d0-a195-0020afd156e4}

the total contents of the file should look like this:

For the VC500 to capture audio as well as video, make sure you have the "audio device" in the showbiz "Capture Module" is set for "Audio Pin Source"
