XS51, XS71, XS71DDL on Windows 10

Due to the age of this chipset, there will only be limited support for windows 10. The card will still function using a windows 8.1 driver, but will not provide full surround sound functionality. Digital Connections will no longer be supported. These cards will only provide 2 channel stereo.
Please download the drivers for the XS51, XS71 or XS71DDL here. Please make sure to save the files, and then extract the folder from it's compressed state before beginning.
To install the card on windows 10, you must use the windows device manager. To open the device manager simply right click on the start button in the lower left , and select the option for device manager.

Once the device manager opens, you will have one of 2 options so show the card. If the card is brand new, or you did a clean install of windows 10, then you will see the sound card listed as a "Multimedia audio controller" under the category of "Other devices".

If you upgraded the system, and already had a driver installed, then you may see a "C-Media PCI Audio Device" listed under the "Sound Video and Game Controllers" category.

Once the Device is located, right click on it, and select the option to "update driver software".

This will start the driver update wizard. Select the option to "Browse my computer for driver software".

On the next screen, choose the option to "let me pick from a list

From here you will see one of two screens. If you see this one:

Then select the sound video and game controllers category, and click next. You will move onto this one. It's fine if you system skips this part, since the device may already be identified.

Click on the have disk option, and a new window will open -

Click on browse, and navigate to the folder you extracted before beginning this process. You will want to go into the W8 folder. The into the WIN8 Folder, the SoftwareDriver folder, and then into the driver folder. Inside this folder you want to choose the CMxPCIX.INF file, and click "Open"

Once the window pictured above closes, click "OK", and you should see the screen shift to this:

Click "Next", and the driver will be installed. Once it is complete, click "close" and restart you computer. Once the system comes back up, you may hear sound. If you do not, please see this guide.
